Get a better looking for Smoube when using OptiFine, with basic and extra settings, also with shaders


Options > Video Settings

Smooth Lighting: Maximum, 100% *

Shaders: Complementary Shaders + Custom options optimized for Smoube

 

Please use the recommended shader AND the custom options which are specific modified for Smoube if you want to use shaders. Others will make the texture pack look disgusting, basically

Video Settings > Details

Fog: On *

Biome Blend: at 7x7 or more

Fog Start: 0.8 (for chunks at 2, 3, 4 or 5)

Fog Start: 0.6 (for chunks at 6, 7, 8 or 9)

Fog Start: 0.4 (for chunks at 10, 11, 12 or 13)

Fog Start: 0.2 (for chunks at 14 or more)

Video Settings > Quality

Mipmap Levels: from 0 to 3 *

Better Grass: Fast

Connected Textures: Fancy *

Better Snow: On *

Custom Colors: On *

Mipmap: 0 (for chunks at 2)

Mipmap: 1 (for chunks at 3, 4 or 5)

Mipmap: 2 (for chunks at 6, 7 or 8)

Mipmap: 3 (for chunks at 9, 10, 11 or more)

Mipmap: 4 (will make the leaves look broken, do not enable)


  • The features marked with a blue asterisk (*) are the recomendable setting to get the better visuals and approach the most all the features
  • The features marked with a red asterisk (*) are required to follow them correctly. Disabling or enabling them may broke others or even the same feature

Installation: after downloading Complementary Shaders, enable it on the shader list in-game. Then change any option from the shader options, this will make the shader create a .txt file with custom options. Now open the shaderspack folder and there should be a .txt file with the same name of the shader. Close the game, open the .txt file and replace the text inside with any of those above depending or your PC specs. If you used before the same shader with your own settings, you should first make a backup before replacing them

 

After the installation of the shader and their settings, I recommend using the Shader Fixer add-on for Smoube to fix some issues with the textures on emissive blocks (amethyst buds, redstone torch, etc.) because this can not be solved by the shader itself. This is an add-on and can be enabled or disabled at any time because is just a texture pack
